Bart's Bash 21 September

Sunday 21 September:

be part of the largest sailing event in the world.  We have registered to take part in Bart's Bash (www.bartsbash.co.uk) and need a minimum of 25 boats racing to be counted in the world record attempt.  The event is a fundraiser for the Andrew Simpson Sailing Foundation so the entry fee will be £5 per person.  More details will be published soon, including how to register, how to reserve a club boat and race rules.  The club will be open from 9:30 for bacon butties, rigging and launching of boats - ready for an 11:30 race start.  There will be a BBQ lunch as the James Middleton-Stewart Challenge Bowl will be held in the afternoon.

James Middleton-Stewart Challenge Bowl 21 Sep

Sunday 21 September at 14:30 we will be holding the first James Middleton-Stewart Challenge Bowl race.  The bowl has been donated by Helen Middleton-Stewart in memory of her husband James who was Commodore at the club 1994/95.  James was instrumental in obtaining the original lottery funding to buy club boats.  To commemorate this achievement and the subsequent purchases to attain the current fleet, this race will be held using only club boats.  Once race entry names are gathered, names will be drawn randomly out of the hat and assigned to each subsequent boat on the list.  Maybe Mark H will get an Oppie!

Topper dates for you diary

Please note the following:

The Oxford traveller/coaching is one of our nearest events it would be really great to take a crowd from GTSC. It is the same day as Bart’s Bash and the J Middleton Stewart Trophy so the club will need the club Toppers – however if there is enough interest (at least three people) I will see if I can borrow some boats from Topper – there will be a cost , but fairly negligible.

How about trying for an RYA Zone Squad place

– you need to enter the national series events. The first one for 2014/15 is at Rutland Water  - see www.gbrtopper.co.uk for more details
