Bart’s Bash 2015

By | News | No Comments

The racing on Sunday 20 September started much earlier than usual as we were taking part in Bart’s Bash 2015.  We had a spectacular 26 boats out on the water, split into a fast fleet (mainly lasers) and the slow fleet (mainly Comets and Toppers).  The wind was lighter than would have been ideal, but all valiantly tried to find what wind there was and to take advantage of any gusts that came through.  The winner was Neil Grant in his Laser standard, who was able to take advantage of the conditions and managed not to fall out when roll tacking.  The full results from the event can be found at

OSC Youth Regatta – 12 Sep 2015

By | News | No Comments

Oxford Sailing Club are hosting the Oxford Youth Regatta. This year the regatta is running on Saturday 12th September, with registration from 9:30, briefing at 10:15 and the first race at 11am. Entry is £12 for single-handers and £22 for double.  See attached poster.

All under 18’s are welcome!

Even if you’ve never raced before, only done a couple, or race regularly we want to see you on the water.  There are prizes throughout the fleet, a separate topper start, lunch is available for us all from the galley and it would be fantastic if as many of you as possible were there to show off everything you’ve practised this season, and for us to see just how many youth sailors there are in the area. The regatta is open to any U18 sailor so please ask your members to spread the word – we’re aiming to try and get 50 boats on the water.

Success at Thames Challenge for Goring Girls (and boys)

By | News | No Comments

Our Goring Girls team have won gold at yesterday’s Thames Challenge.  With the largest turnout ever of 14 teams from across the region this is an awesome result.  They only lost one race and thrashed Goring Greats who were also on the podium winning bronze.  Our Goring Grandmasters team put in a valiant effort and gained lots of experience throughout the day – watch out the other teams next year.
