About Goring Thames Sailing Club

Formed in 1943, the club's aims are to provide sailing and social facilities for its members and to encourage sailing and dinghy racing on the Thames.

With a total of 350 individual members, the club organises a variety of races throughout the season (currently March-November), training events for beginners and experienced sailors, social events for juniors and adults and has an enviable set of 11 club dinghies for club members to use.  A canoe storage rack is also available for use.

Junior and adult buoyancy aids are also available for use together with a new set of safety helmets for juniors.

The club house has a well stocked bar, a new (2009) catering style kitchen, lounge and junior snug.  Seperate changing rooms are equipped with hot showers.  The club has a safety boat, 2 slipways, extensive boat parking facilities, sail loft and BBQ facilities.

The club house and marquee are also available to hire for members' private functions.

The day-to-day running of the club is the responsibility of the Committee that is made up of members elected each year at the club's AGM. They are there to help, as well as are all the members, to operate the club. The club requires the active support of everyone in the sailing and social events as well as those necessary tasks involving maintenance and fund raising.
